# A small worked example

All names, details and outcomes below are illustrative. This is not a client case study.

## The brief

Harbour Desk is a fictional design studio helping small service businesses improve their presentation. The owner wants warm, clear language. The studio hasn't confirmed availability for a new project. A proposal follows a conversation about scope. It doesn't quote a price or promise a completion date before that conversation.

## The task

An invented enquiry says: “Can you redesign our brochure by next Friday? Please send a price.”

## A useful draft

“Thanks for getting in touch. Could you send through the current brochure and a short outline of what you'd like to change? Once I've seen the scope, I can confirm whether next Friday is workable and prepare a price.”

## What to check

The draft doesn't claim availability or invent a price. It asks for enough information to move the enquiry forward. The owner still needs to decide whether that request for material is appropriate and whether the wording matches their business.

If AI had written “We can definitely have this ready next Friday”, the correction belongs in both the draft and the brief: never confirm availability until the owner has checked it.
